3 piece silver, no MS70 in the set?
Question: Why doesn’t PCGS grade Silver American Eagles in MS-70?
Answer: The chemical rinse that the U.S. Mint uses on these coins can cause white spots to develop over time. In most cases, the spots cannot be removed. Until that problem is resolved, the responsible choice for PCGS is to stay away from the MS-70 grade, even though some technically perfect examples exist.

Does West Point use the same rinse?

Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
<< <i>PCGS has graded about a dozen silver Eagles MS70. So Silver Eagles can grade MS70 at PCGS. >>
1998 was the last year for an MS70 according to the pop report, or am I missing something.
<< <i>The "W" mint marked MS silver eagles are minted at West point same as the regular MS silver eagles. West point would use the same rinse for both, so no PCGS MS70 for the "W" mint marked silver eagles.imo >>
I hope thats one heluva reverse proof!
I was wondering why I hadn't seen any PCGS MS70's out of the 2 coin set.
My recommendation is to NOT buy any of these current silver coins because when the 3 coin set hits, there will be A LOT more supply with Plenty of 70's and 69's from NGC.
Just because NGC is giving out the MS70 label, doesnt actually mean to me its a 70. At least a PCGS in a 69 is at least a 69....
They should not mis-grade the coin, because of what might happen.
