PCGS Membership Question
I currently am not a member of PCGS and I am debating what
the advantages/disadvantages are on joining PCGS at one of
their membership levels.
It appears I may be receiving the 20th Anniversary AGE set.
This is the only coin set I have that I would consider getting
graded by PCGS.
A Couple Of Questions I Have
Do you think it would be better if I submitted this set to a
PCGS Authorized Dealer for submission to PCGS or should I
join PCGS at one of their membership levels and submit the
set myself?
What would a PCGS Authorized Dealer charge to have this
set graded?
If I ship the box unopened to PCGS, will I get back from PCGS
the US Mint items (such as invoice, boxes, and coin capsules)?
When the coins are graded, does PCGS give you any detailed
documentation showing how the grade was derived (such as
some type of summary explanation) or it it just a subjective
opinion?
Are there any disadvantages to getting this set graded?
Thanks in advance for any responses!

Yes, he will. But there is a handling charge and he must specify that he wants them back.

Is this the only thing you see yourself submitting in the near future? If so it would probably make more sense to just submit it through a dealer. The gold level members ship will cost you the membership fee and you will still have to pay the full price for submissions plus shipping both ways. The Platinum level fee would get you the submissions free but the cost of the membership is more than the three submissions would cost, plus you still have to pay postage and insurance both ways. (If you had other coins to submit to make up the rest of the eight free submissions then it might make sense.)
If you submit through a dealer you would just pay for the submissions and maybe a small fee, but more than likely not the postage and insurance load. This would be cheaper than the platinum fee.

That depends on the dealer.

For this set PCGS has agreed to send them back, but you must request them to be returned and you must pay the postage fees to send them back.

It is just a subjective opinion, all you get is the slab and the grade on it. No other documentation.
