That proof quarter is 100% naturally album toned. However, it doesn't excite me as much as toned mint state Barber quarters. By comparison, the proofs are relatively easy to come by in high grade with color.

I agree, the coin is NT, but, I have seen also many MS coins with gorgeous toning as well; however, the concentric toning patterns seem to be prevalent on the PR examples though.
Wildly toned quarters are more common than the halves are. It seems that more halves were "conserved" than the quarters were. Jeez...why can't people leave their coins in their natural state ?
The past fascination with "Blast White MS" coins hurt the hobby - either by over zealous cleaning - and now trying to get Artificial Toning back onto the surfaces of the coins so that they resemble the look the coin had prior to its "conservation" [ dipping / cleaning / wiping...whatever ] .
I remember the old antage about cleaning: .... " when it doubt, don't".

Nope. But for the rarity of coins developing into monsters under non-intentional circumstances, there certainly are a lot on the market these days.

Wow Snakes, that remark is likely to haunt you for years. So much for the b*******ner toner sales.
Reminds me of Laura's quip about trusting dealers.
