PCI label color

Hi all,
What is the difference between green label PCI and gold label?
I thought old PCI green label was "good" coin, not altered? So maybe PCI was sold, and now the gold label is a "good" unaltered coin?

The gold label is newer than the green and generally not as accurate. With PCI I would have to see it in hand in either case though, unless a trusted dealer gave me his opinion on it.

Some Older Green Holders ( with the shorter Seerial Number) were more conservatly graded, and were considered crack out candidates.

Most upgrade candidates have already been cracked out, so they are not are much of a deal.

But that doesn't stop e-bay sellers from hyping them to pieces ( even when they are the long SN)

i just cracked out a 1898s morgan from a gold label PCI graded MS61, sent it in and got back PCGS MS61. i don`t know if new owners took over. i only submitted to PCI once about a year ago and i thought they were quite accurate but i`m talking morgans not moderns. because of the perception that they overgade everything coins in there slabs have little resale value. JMO

They're much closer to reality with little submitters then they are with volume dealers.
