Ths show was moved because of venue problems with the Omni Hotel.
My thanks to 123cents for the polite but 100% accurate description of "JMV Coin and Currency Shows"....
..."Its a good show but small".
We specialize in smaller one day shows that are quick and conveinent for collectors who are on a tight schedule and have plans with their families on a Sunday.
As for your friend who gave you a negative recommendation about "wasting your time".
Tell him that the promoter said ...
" We apologize for not meeting his expectations, however we are not a coin club and we do not claim to be,our shows are more geared to dealer to collector retail sales and exposing the hobby to "non traditional collectors" who have never been to a coin show rather than other "big" shows where the emphasis is dealer to dealer "wholesale" sales and dealers who service more advanced (high end) collectors who spend $10,000 or more at a show(I am sure your friend fits in that category).
Besides in Texas unlike the West Coast or East Coast of the U.S. There is only 2 annual large shows (200+ tables). The Money Show of the Southwest in Houston in January and the Texas Numismatic Convention in May.Then there is the Fall T.N.A show which moves around the state(2006 is El Paso,Tx) which will have about 100 tables(maybe). Then there is the quarterly 3 day "Grapevine" (commercial promoter run)show in the DFW area which only has 70 tables. The Alamo Coin Club show in Live Oak,Tx just north of San Antonio which is held in what used to be a old wal -mart has at about 60 tables and the rest of coin shows in Texas are either small club run shows or small commercial promoter run shows with 40 tables or less.
Just because a show is small does not mean its bad and just because a show is big does not mean it is good either.
