Cherrypickers Guide 4th edition Vol 2 errors

I think I just found 2 errors in the book itself.

Page 23. 1853 with arrows. The variety is worth less than the more common one?

Page 92. 1960 proof ddo in early state and late die state. it states that the late die state is worth a lot less but the numbers for both are the same??

Anyone else find any errors?

Is my book worth more as an error? lol

I found something to but can't remember what it was. I'll have to take a look when I get home. If I remember right it was in the dime section.....

There's LOTS of errors-especially in some of the pricing. The picture of the 2-O-I 1946 quarter is of the 1976-D 1-O-V-there is no 1946 this strong. Some of the classifications of various doubled dies are wrong, too.

Pricing is always ify on varieties unless the variety is in the redbook and better if it is listed in the greysheet!

the first two coins in the book don't belong there. Both bust half dimes are fairly common die marriages, yet CPG is passing them off as rare die varieties. I stopped reading right there at the first coin series -- obvious they didn't do their homework on this one. Dealers are now asking (saw it at a show this past weekend) $400+ for the rare 1829/3 half dime (LM-3, just R-2 and the "overdate" is just doubling of the ball of the 9) in VG-10. What a crock.

There were errors in the first volume, too, so this isn't really news to me. The 1941-large S nickel was listed as URS-5 (9-16 known), it probably should have been URS-15. Also, the prices for the 1942-S/S DDO were inflated by a factor of 10, which sounds funny until you realize that people were buying and selling them for the CPG values for a while right after the book hit the streets.

Still, it's the only book of its kind out there, so until someone comes along and does a better one it will be the standard.

From what I've heard, one of the biggest errors was that the book was 3 years late coming out.

Does volume 2 not cover the coins that volume 1 covered; do you need both volume 1 and 2?

I'm no Whitman Publishing proponent or anything, but if you look close enough, all books have errors....even the Da vinci Code

    On another note:

I have an old Red Book (1966, I believe) with a Double Die Obverse....The cover and binding is drastically doubled

I also have an old Red Book with a Rotated Die....the cover is completely inverted with the pages

    Are these real errors????

Majorduty, you would need both books, as a matter of fact I am waiting for Vol I in the mail.....Vol II covers half dimes thru dollars, + gold, + modern commemoratives

    Vol I, covers Cents-Nickels, I believe

Some of the pricing is a little more than "iffy." Look at the values for the 1967 SMS 2-O-I quarter, among others.
