People nowadays will do anything to try and scam eBay buyers
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
Keeper of the VAM Catalog • Professional Coin Imaging • Prime Number Set • World Coins in Early America • British Trade Dollars • Variety Attribution
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

<< <i>Keep in mind not everyone has the money to pay for a mint state 09 VDB, or could be a great coin for a child to fill a hole until the child can afford and properly care for a realy nice VDB....... >>
I don't think anyone would argue with you on that. The issue here is that in the first auction braddick linked, the seller is falsely advertising his coin as an authentic 1909-S VDB (and is nowhere near the EF-AU grades he claims) while the second auction clearly states that the coin is a replica.
But I'll refer you to Hanlon's razor posted earlier. I'll rephrase it in a way I like a little better, "Be slow to attribute to malice that which can easily be explained by stupidity."
Where do you think he got the term "King of the Wheat Lincoln Penny?"
Where do most ebay novice or non-specialized sellers do their research?
How about here.
Look at what this guy sells. He's a junk dealer. He came upon this old penny, looked it up, and did his best to describe it. at least he has some pretty good photos.
Those of you speculating about the size being wrong have no basis other than general negativity.
Perhaps we need a new physics theorum of general negativity, ebay for short.

"I'm not a grader, but I believe it would grade ef40-au50" AU as in About Uncirculated or "Almost Unreadable"?

<< <i> You guys need to find a place to buy tar, feathers, rope, and lumber (for the hangman's scaffold) wholesale. Or maybe you can get it on ebay--nope, you'd be afraid of getting ripped off. >>
Are you serious????? Have you EVER sold an item on eBay???? Before you ever get to the point it is listed, you have to agree to the RED print that you are certifying the goods you are selling to be authentic........They guy is either trying to rip someone off, or is a fool......what do you think?

Yes, my total ebay sales in the past 8 years are approaching 6 digits. I do a much better job at it than this guy. I hope that I'll never be cited as a good example of Hanlon's razor. Did you look at the thread I produced? My guess is he know's nothing about coins and lifted all his terminology from other ebay auctions. I'd give it 90% that he thinks he has the real thing. --Jerry

OK...I'll give him and you the benefit of the doubt..
<< <i>notwilight.......your coins sales on eBay aren't very strong are they??? I would like to think you would do a better job than this guy. Most people do SOME research. >>
My coin sales are nothing to brag about. I've sold tools, motorcycle parts, things made in my garage, and micellany. I have a lot of machine tools I'll be selling soon. I sold a couple of gold buffalos (got $35xx for a PR70) but was pretty disgusted by the ebay and paypal fees and sold the rest of them in the BST forum.
Here is an update from this guys auction:
Q: You have GOT TO BE KIDDING! You DO know that coin is fake, right? It should say copy underneath that black crap on the left reverse. We'll see what Ebay has to say about it, as I'm about to report it.
A: I JUST GOT 4 EMAILS SAYING ITS A FAKE BELIEVE ME IM DELETEING LISTING RIGHT NOW , THANKS FOER THE HEADS UP
Any of you that reported him to ebay without giving him a chance to respond are acting irresponsibly. This is a $9.95 auction from a junk dealer. Many of you don't buy coins for less than 4 digits. Don't hold him to the same standards that you expect the snooty walnut and brass clad coin dealership in Newport Beach to uphold.

You sure do got that right buddy...
<< <i>I like the tar stains. I can't believe it, Russ hasn't responded to the post with his numismatic wisdom. He would be able to exactly indentify every aspect of the coin, who made the fake, the chemical makeup of the tar, type of material used, who made it, when it was made, etc. Please help us Russel, please, we need your intellectual insight.

"BigBen", is that you?
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
