AGE Anniversary Set - Will price come down next year?
Modern gold coin collectors....
What do you think of the hype regarding the AGE 3 coin set? I know there are a lot of posts about this and I see some high priced sales on Ebay...but do you think this is a situation where you can wait it out and get it at issue or lower next year?
It sure seems like the set will be a hit, but then again the Buffalo was pretty hyped too. I guess the big difference will be the ultra low mintage and quick sell out by the mint. If I had a chance to grab one at $3000, should I? Or should I wait and see if the market will get ebayed to death and lower the price a bit?
Thanks!

purchase. I do not believe that the after sale price will fall below that.

Has it gone up?

But since the transaction cannot be completed in 30 days - Ebay rules - it is invalid.
So I ask again - has it gone up?

<< <i>The 30 day rule on Ebay only matters if the two parties don't agree. If the seller and buyer want to wait two months they can. I have in the past ordered several China and other coins that took over 30 days to deliver and they did. The transaction did occur and for the orginal price still in the system. Orders are kept in the Ebay systems for 60 days. >>
Maybe not.

<< <i>Surprise, Surprise, the auctions are still up on eBay. All eBay cares about is their pocketbook. >>
right - they'll probably leave the 3pc gold auctions up cause that's where they're making the dough. And if the Mint says "expected to ship mid October", who's to say they won't ship early? How can ebay GUARANTEE this item won't be available within 30 days of auctions ending in a week or so? The silver sets clearly state December, so they might have a point there, but with the gold it's debatable.

At this point whetheh the transaction is valid or not is up to the buyer and seller. Ebay put them together, they agreed on the price. If the buyer can live with a delivery date in Mid October...... Done deal.

<< <i>Same seller that sold the one for $4750. Greed maybe, but then again if someone buys it more power to him/her.

Exactly. Seems like some people are not happy with others making a profit. These aren't precious pieces of history in need of documentation and preservation - they're modern crap that can be flipped for a quick buck. VIVA capitalism!!
Well thanks for the info guys. I am on the mint waiting list but I think I will go ahead and get that set while I can.
I plan to hold on to it for my collection due to the low mintage but it is a comfort knowing I could sell it right away for more than I bought it for.
Thanks!

let us know if you can find one for $3000. Inquiring minds want to know.
Holy buffalo !!
I just saw what the 2001 buffalo silver dollar is selling for:
NGC PF70 - $2000
Ungraded two coin set - $500
PCGS two coins graded 69 - $490
If this is any precident, our Silver Eagle should to very well !! Both Gold and Silver.
A three coin set, with all three graded 70 in an NGC holder, either the gold or silver will surely bring mucho denaro !!!

(Just think of city streets clogged with a hundred thousand horses each generating 15 lbs of manure every day...)
The buyers efforts will fail by the end of the 2007 year and prices will be strong once again starting in 2008.
The buffalo silver dollars did NOT go straight up for the past 5 years. They had their weak and declining prices at various intervals although remarkably stable overall.
