Good Example of Buy the coin, not the holder

Maybe I'm wrong but while the holder got me to look closer, the coin ran me off.... what would you grade it with the reverse like it is?

The grade may be accurate, but I wouldn't want to own that coin at any grade.

Thanks for the insight. If I had to guess, is it because the mark is so straight? Or how can you tell on something like this?

It ought to be STEEL GREY, not brownish green.
The strike detail is nice and it seems to have plenty of luster.
I'm guessing the picture is the problem here as I cannot imagine NGC encapsulating one with questionable color.

It appears to be a roller mark or planchet problem of some sort IMO.

At first glance I thought it was a scratch in the holder but the disturbance near the rim at 5 o'clock disuaded me. After looking at it closer it appears as-struck to me, but I can't tell from the photos if it is a plachet defect or a strike through. The look of the coin is consistent with NGC MS 65's (i.e. looks 63 or 64

) so I see nothing out of the ordinary from that perspective. All that being said, this coin is a "pass" to me...Mike
