As another point of reference, I secured my orders of the 3-pc SAE & GAE on the morning of 8/31.

The next morning I ordered more USMINT goodies. The orders over that period were averaging about 17 per minute.

The order which I just placed indicates that the order rate has dropped off to just under 6 per minute.....FWIW.

the inital bounce on the secondary market is going to be full of people undercutting each others price - there are sooo many speculators in these that cant give a damn about the collectibility aspect of these sets.

You have to be quick to get out of some initially, but I believe in the long run - the price will recover and move higher - especially in the silver sets.

    << <i>Sold out 3 piece gold sets selling on secondary market for 3300 - 3400 dollars >>

I missed these. I have seen sales at $3,600, $3,800, $4,000 and $4,000. The next sets I see closing is at $4,050.

    $4,050 Bid

    Sales at $3,600 to $4,000

It's very doubtful that anyone is watching the store at the Mint this weekend. It's also highly possible that both the silver sets and gold/silver sets are sold out based upon the sheer volume of orders. I believe there's going to be a bunch of unhappy campers tomorrow, especially the ones that receive the mailing too late.

    1. I would be suspicious of bids for the gold sets
that are much above 3400 dollars. At that price, I would
wait untill the price settles down to the 3400 level.

    2. Why didnt the Mint mail out the notices of the sets well
before the opening sales on the sets.

3.It would be nice if the Mint gave a running total of sets sold
so we would not have to rough calculate it by ourselves.

    4. I believe that all three sets will be good items to own in the
    immediate and long term future.

    77,500 orders since Wednesday

Estimates of sets sold as of Monday 3PM Eastern time

Three piece silver set.................................195,000 sets sold out of..............................250,000

Two piece gold and silver sets....................17,000 sets sold out of................................20,000

These are conservative estimates and it is possible, that the two sets above are even closer to sell out.

I also am suspect of the $4,700 sale. Why when there are cheaper BINs out there? I know one is a non-perfect record seller, but the others are OK.

<< <i>Within the first 5 min of them going on sale: 23112000 >>

I started just before noon on Wednesday and finished 1226pm to buy 2 gold and 10 silver sets. My number is in 23115000's. I just bought 2 gold and silver sets and my number is in the 23190000's. That's 75,000 orders since my first order. I don't think there will be any sets left by the 1 week anniversary, noon Wednesday!

Bear, when the 3 piece gold set sold out in hours that must have caused a run on the gold/silver set and they must be long gone at a max of only 20k sets. I would be willing to bet you a dozen jelly dougnuts on that. By the way, my dad was a master baker/pasty baker and I worked in his shop in LA when I was a teen. I can't begin to estimate how many 10s of thousand of doughnuts I help make.

Its my belief, that after the gold set sell out, their was a

rush to lock up the silver set. For some reason, the enthusiasm

for the gold and silver set was more moderate. As people ordered the

silver and gold sets, many felt that the two coin set would be redundant.

I still believe that all three sets will do very well in the after market. I also

feel that the remaining sets will both be sold out by tomorrow.

I beleive the gold/silver set was confusing to most until later when all understood that the W mark on a gold Unc made for 30,000 mintage.

    Then the ordering began....late

    21397629...i just bought 10 sets!

the 1996 uncirculated silver eagle is selling for ~$50 right now...and i'm pretty sure that the mintage on this one is over 1 million...

if my math is correct, the 2006 uncirculated silver eagle with the "w" mint mark should sell for at least $200...am i missing something?

Should products become available, these orders will be considered “next in line,” and be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The United States Mint CANNOT provide information on specific customer order status either online or by telephone. If paying by credit card, please be sure the expiration date is not before December 31, 2006. If we are not able to fulfill your order, you will be notified that your order was cancelled. Nice job bear!

With around 85,000 orders, the average was 3 silver sets per order.

Sales on the 2-coin set will now accelerate. Both coins are keys next to the reverse proof.image

The U.S. Mint has NOT yet sold out of the 3 piece silver sets. When you click on Buy Online, the page goes to the 3 piece silver set.... and the GENERIC message shows up underneath it about orders being taken yet, but limits may have been reached, etc. BUT... click on the 3 piece silver set heading.... and it will take you to the main description page.... and there is no sold out message. You can still order; it appears that the limit has not yet been reached.

But order fast.... will be anytime.

The order volume has exploded in the last 2 hours. As of 2PM CDT it was running at about 6 orders per minute since midnight. It has gone over 35 orders per minute since then . . . . . looks like the postal mailers are calling.....
