I sent the seller an FYI with the correct Coneca and CPG numbers for the coin. Maybe he'll do a little research and end the auction.

Russ is right again, and the big DDR (Cherrypickers FS-013 for those of us who still haven't received our new books) is a LOT more valuable than this one with minor doubling. Like maybe 50 x as valuable.

I agree 100% with Russ, I picked up 2 DDR this weekend at FW show, but this is not the major DDR.

    Good call, Russ.

After missing out on a pair of them a few years ago in NGC 67 CAM ( if memory serves me right ) I do remember that one sold for $1800 and the other didn't sell. I just can't remember whose auction it was...just the coins.

That would be nice, but wouldn't that intefere with his big cash grab? image

Well, after an additional eMail with an image of the real deal I convinced him that his isn't it. But, he didn't end the auction. He did some edits and lowered the price to $599. He's still trying to hook a sucker.

The coin he has imaged isn't a doubled die at all. It's machine damage doubling...no premium value at all.

Hey Russ, can you post that image on this thread??
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

A doubled die is caused because the doubling exists on the die itself. Machine doubling is caused because the dies or planchet jiggled when the coin was struck. A true doubled die will have rounded edges in the doubling. Machine doubling will be shelf-like.

$599? For the not-real-deal doubled die? I bought the real deal a few years ago in PR-62 for $525! Sold it later for a decent profit when I upgraded.

    His response!!!

I make no guarantees. Not a scam. If it is not the correct variety then that is my mistake. But not a scam in any way.

    Still no return.

    Hey Russ
Good catch on this one. Smells like a scam to me. The other DDR's for this date almost never sell for more than $100.

Auction has now ended early due to an error. I bet the seller was getting too much email traffic. (I was about to send him a note myself since I know what they look like).

In addition, Coppercoins is correct in that it is machine doubling and not a doubled die. The first four DDR's for this date look nothing like the photos in the ebay auction. So it is really only worth a max of $20 in my opinion.
