I just picked this one up yesterday and am happy to add it to my collection. It has a slight golden smooth toning to it I believe the photos captured well.
What is your guess for a grade? This isn't meant to be a trick "guess the grade" as I believe ANACS got it right.
I'll reveal the full slab later this afternoon.

Is it net graded Braddick?
Lincoln set Colorless Set
It is an ANACS holder. If I had a 3 legger that was MS, it would not be going to ANACS unless it had an issue.

Cool variety.
<< <i>amanda, anacs is tough grading buffs, beleive me when i say you can find some nice cherry picks in their holders. i dont beleive this has been cleaned, i feel someone probably thought they could have anacs put this coin in a 65 holder.
It looks cleaned to me. I know that these dies were abused, but that just does not account for some things I am seeing on the coin.
And if I was selling this, I would want it in a PCGS holder if it would grade there.

<< <i>looks a little bit too shiny >>
Agreed. Coin looks polished. But assuming it is not polished, I'd guess 62.

No reason on earth that coin would not grade anywhere. I'd say AU58 all day. The shiny look is from Pat's photography.
What exactly are these "things" you are seeing on the coin? The coin in your sigline appears to be polished....is it?
This is a difficult date to grade because if you're comparing it to say, a 1938-D it will always come up wanting. The dies were rusted with evidence of mint polishing/buffing.
The "shine" in my photo is an artifact of my photography as I shot it using the morning sun as my light source and two small overhead ceiling lights.
Here's the ANACS grade:
I believe, if it wasn't for the gentle cleaning this one would have holdered at MS64 and I would never have then had the opportunity to purchase it.
