Too slab or not to slab

I am new to coin collecting. I have purchsed a number of coins from the mint including 1 silver and 1 gold set today. Are they worth more in the future in the original cases or should should I slab them ASAP to try for a conditional rarity.
Thanks Mark

i,d say no to submitting for pro grading, unless you can be pretty sure your coins are truely better than most
but then, how,d you know that unless you,ve seen a bunch and know yours are better..

If you want to keep them, keep them original. If you intend to sell, you take your chance getting a 70, which would possibly make you a nice profit (maybe). Some other collectors will also want them original--so, take your pick.

I intend to keep one set for myself original, then slab the rest for aftermarket, and hopefully get a few 70s to assist in paying off the bill....

    Welcome to the boards.

Keep them in the original government holders like the other gazillion of us do.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • It looks like you have plenty of money for buying coins. That is cool. Personally, I like my gold mint coins slabbed. You got 1 out of 8 70, so that worked out for you. Sell the 70 and buy a couple more. image

You've done well with what you have slabbed. Since they are proofs, they came with COA and a velvet box. Keep that to include if you ever sell.

  • I have a small collection of circulated civil war tokens. Are they worth slabbing?

  • I believe slabbing modern coins is a waste of time and money.
