So--is there going to be a first strike anniversary set????

I know what the board has said, but many collectors arent on the board, and those folks are still thinking that first strike means something magical. So are the anniversary sets going to be available with that designation?

Second question, assuming they are, what would a PCGS PR70 DCAM full 3 coin gold set be worth? I remember a buffalo going for over $5k and they were limited to a mintage of 300,000

They won't be available from the US Mint but I am sure enterprising bulk submitting dealers will create some holdered sets. If they are going to be all together, they'll have to be in NGC plastic. They are the only ones with the cool jumbo multi-coin slabs, and they also subscribe to some sort of Early Shipped™...Umm I mean Early "Strike" designations.

As to price/value, it's anyones guess image

I'm looking forward to the set, but I'm keeping mine in the mint box/capsules. ASEs don't seem to do well in TPG holders. Those milk spots scare me! image

Sorry, I meant in 3 separate slabs, all PCGS graded--just all 3 bearing the Pr70 DCAM First Strike designation--if they even intend on continuing that designation.

The Max allowed should be 2.

The regular Proof has been for sale since the beginning of the year. That would only leave the Satin "W" and the Reverse Proof as possible first strikes.

SO ANY three coin holder that states that ALL the coins are First Strike would be wayyyyy wrong.

Come to think of it, the Satin finish would have to be a MS70 coin.

If the anniversary normal proof is not different from the proof already being sold, I suppose you could pick up that First Strike slab already, then add the other two when you find them for sale. In the case of the 2000 Millennium Coin & Currency set, the ASE was nothing special and had no mint mark but PCGS does holder them as "Millennium Set". Maybe that will be the case with the Anniversary set normal proof as well. Regardless of the fact that they are already on sale as single proofs, the First Strike for the set version should be obtainable since it really has to do with the shipping within the first month of availability of the complete set.

That's my guess anyway. i.e. If there's extra $$ to be made, it will be done. image

Both PCGS and NGC have announced that they will impose a strict 10,000 submission limit on the "First Strike Reverse Proof Gold Anniversary Eagles."

They have also slabed large numbers for the the TV people or someone. Not as many as NGC has, but they have been guilty of it as well.
