Weird eBay auction Bidding

Not real sure what happened with this auction.

I put my snipe in for $103.55 and someone else got in a bid in after me and bought the note for $150.
Shouldn't he have won the auction for one bid increment over my bid (roughly $105)?

Seems like eBay owes the high bidder $43.95.
[Edit to add: D'oh -- I assume there was a $150 reserve. Never mind. If there wasn't, THEN it's a problem.]

<< <i>Sniping sucks!!! Its not fair and im tired of losing bids because of it. I just wanted to let my opinion be heard. >>
Then check out Legend's auctions. It looks like they will be set up so that the bidding doesn't end unless no bids have been received in three minutes. So you'll always have a three minutes to counter a "snipe." If you hate the concept of sniping and losing to snipers, it sounds more your style.
If you can't deal with sniping, stay away from eBay, because given the way their auctions are set up, it's folly NOT to snipe.

<< <i>If the reserve was $150, I thought the bid would have gone up to $106.05 and the auction would have ended with no sale because the reserve was not met. >>
Normally bids go to one increment above the underbidder. But if that is still below the reserve AND the high max bid meets the reserve, the high bid jumps to match the reserve.

Or if it overshoots the reserve, it still goes to the reserve price.
eBay no longer shows "Reserve Met" so I'm led to believe that there was a $150 reserve on the item.
Shows how much bidding I do on eBay. That clears it up!

Bid $10,000 on anything like this you want, and go to bed early assured it'll be yours in the morning.

Of course, if someone else bids $9,900, you'll own the item but at a pretty high price.
