do I have to know my vam if I send it in to pcgs

or will they determine it for me if I pay for the variety. I have pcgs 1878 7/8 that I want the variety on but am not sure of the exact one thanks

For a 1878 7/8TF dollar you can pick any vam number (e.g. 38) and send it in. If you are wrong, then they will put the correct vam number on it. This will not work for all dates, since your coin may be a vam that they don't attribute. But since all 7/8 dollars are attributed, you are safe.
