1902 O Morgan die crack??

My local coin dealer said this is common for the 1902 O. He offered to buy it. Why would he want it, if it's common?? I took a tooth pick, and ever so lightly picked it. It is absolutely, raised above the surface of the coin. Sorry for the horrible pic. The gouge or crack runs from the D in United, through the tip of the wing, and through the S, T, and A in States.

Oh, it IS a die crack .....that can be told by the pics

Not sure of worth or rarity.....not finding it in my 4th edition VAM book....

I do see a lot of the 1902-O VAMs are doubled on the reverse...with the pic, I don't see that but it is hard to tell from a pic sometimes.
Is that an extra olive on the branch by the eagle's right foot? (his right, not our right)

For the die crack/VAM, that will have to be one of the VAM experts

I just noticed that the obverse has a light die crack running from the L to the U in Pluribus, on the top of the lettering. I'm a novice, so this is exciting for me to find a die crack. The pic doesn't do the crack justice.

Take a close look at it and compare to another 1902-O reverse (or another morgan).

There are quite a few VAMmers here, so if no reply tonight (because they are all old and go to bed early

), then TTT tomorrow.

Peripheral legend cracks are quite common and not of any particular interest, though may help attribute a coin if you have another attributed one with the identical cracks. The C4/C3 reverses (double olives) are also common. I was thinking this is just a VAM-16 possibly. The mintmark is high and right, but perhaps too far right for that variety. The date is slightly near, left of the normal position, with a closed 9 and possibly a filled base of the 2.

I don't have another VAM Morgan, infact I only have 2 other Morgans. So this coin is only worth melt??
