This is what is referred to as "grey dirt". AU58Walkers, where did you hear this term? I know of only one dealer who uses it in cataloging, and he credits the late Floyd Farley with coining the term.

Thinking though... grey water is kind of clean dirty water so grey dirt is probably layers of dust or something not really from dirt???
Imagine a coin sitting on a rafter in the attic for a hundred years or so- it would be covered with something---maybe grey dirt???
