    100% grey dirt...I initially think of original...but it has to be a specific type of grey dirt. image Kind of powdery...

    Never heard of grey dirt. I don't really like grey on my coins anyway.... image

    No clue.
    Thinking though... grey water is kind of clean dirty water so grey dirt is probably layers of dust or something not really from dirt???

    Imagine a coin sitting on a rafter in the attic for a hundred years or so- it would be covered with something---maybe grey dirt???

    This is what is referred to as "grey dirt". AU58Walkers, where did you hear this term? I know of only one dealer who uses it in cataloging, and he credits the late Floyd Farley with coining the term.

    Get in line, MikeKing. It isn't a particularly long line, but then neither is it moving. It's like the guy saying to the woman, 'well may I have your number just in case hell does freeze over?'

    A Geologist freind of mine said that is what he calls CLAY. Solid layer just below the dirt level in some areas.
