your cents all look so damn clean yet, not looking like they were cleaned, at least no signs of
residue or moved metal other than normal contact marks.
my question is; are they rinsed with something to take just the dirt and/or all foreign matter
that doesnt affect the alloy of the coin or color?
are they restored by ntc? or your own method of proper cleaning......btw, i do believe a coin
can be, and sometimes should be cleaned if only done in the most professional manner as to
not have any sign of any kind of alteration to any part of a piece.

Wow, that is an impressive cent. That is one of the best pictures you've ever taken and that is one heck of a nice cent. Talk about sprouting wood, this one surely does it for me.

A super congratulations one that one.

    Wow!!!!

Your pics are incredible. I've had my new camera for a few weeks now, and I am still taking coin pictures on my end table and using a coaster to prop up the coin.

Scratches and all. IMO about as close as you can get.
Hey, it would have only taken a moment to get rid of the scratches. It's easy and he could have done it. He did not. image.
No, I have not seen the coin in hand.
Willing to bet that should I see it in hand, then I could truly appreciate the pic. jws

    what scratches ?

  • mgoodm3mgoodm3 Posts: 17,497 ✭✭✭
Ain't no scratches. couple die cracks and clash present. I think that the cheek marks are rust on the die? DOn't look like contact marks at higher mag. My 1866 proofs look the same.

My sincere apologies to Mark and gratitude to SS350camaro for pointing out my stupidity. I called a die crack a scratch. image. I need to learn to think before I start typing.
Again Mark I apologize. I know how serious you take your talent and I in no way intended to do anything but point out your extreme talent and dedication.
My bad. Good reputations are hard to build. Mark did it the old fashioned way, he earned it and my stupidity put a blemish on it. image. jws

    Nice addition Mark.

Yep, those are die cracks and die clash marks.
  • Nice coin.
  • Julio, I wouldn't sweat the "scratches" comment.

I think your statement in regards to Mark's honest imaging are what's important.

    Beautiful coin & photo.

The most interesting details are the relief scratches to the right of the shield.
Obviously not on the coin but on the die.
