New pictures taken of 72 DDO penny found in change - microscope view

Decided to try and take some pictures of the 72 DDO penny I found a few weeks ago through the microscope- after reading about someone here doing it for close ups. Except for the lighting, for the first tries I think they came out pretty good image . Any ideas as to the variety, I think its 1DDO-002 / FS #1 033.52 in the cherry pickers guide.

Are you sure that is a DDO?

I think that is a DDO, although as the OP stated, it's one of the minor ones, and it seems to be a later die state.

I'm not sure which one it is though

Very nice. It is nice for folks to see that you can still cherrypick common every day pocket change and still get some winners!

Looks like die 3 not 2 IMO
  • I think that there are 12 decent versions of DDO's for the 72 linc. I have been told that the master hub had slight doubling and that ALL 72 lincs have some doubling.

Oh, its a double die- I am pretty sure of that, here are larger photos- for the vision impaired- everything to the far left on coin has quite a good separation:

There are quite a few of the less known DDO's for 72. Here is another, also found in change,

And the biggie for a comparison.

Now THAT is a DDO. Not sure why there would be a premium on the others. I recall the "poor man's double die" that was promoted in the 1970s.

Die three FS #1c-033.53 according to the Cherrypickers guide has the doubling to the left of the motto- or in down/counter clockwise direction. Doubling on the coin I have is in the clockwise - up direction- the B in Liberty is what made me spot it at first- it has a strong shift up visible in both loops of B- just like picture of 033.52 in book. This coin is worn, XF or so.
