2006 Legacy Set

2006 Legacy Set = $135.00

Coins purchased seperately from the Mint:

2006 Proof Set = $22.95
Franklin Proof = $35.00
San Franciso Proof = $35.00

TOTAL = $92.95

Someone want to throw me a bone here and tell me how the Mint figures its pricing?

    Pretty packaging.
    Suckers

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Suckers... maybee, but I have a few prestige proof sets that have individual coins that add up to less than the now significant increase in value of the prestige set itself. Part of the value is in the collectibility of the set (if it catches on). Some do, and some don't. I think the popularity of the franklin dollar, and what I hope is the collectibility of the SF commem should make this a good one!

    Same deal with the 2005 set. Now selling on ebay for $200

    Could it be that they are pricing the sets higher because the Franklin commems are sold out?

  • The 2006 sets are priced at the same point as the 2005 sets. I suppose that they are charging the extra money for the "fancy schmancy" packaging. It seems to be fairly nice packaging (as far as the US mint goes), but they should take a lesson from the Canadian Mint's velvel lined, polished hardwood boxes.

    I will buy all the franklin proofs you have to sell for $35.00 cheezhed.

    Sorry, I bought all mine, FF and Scientist, before they sold out.

    The point you're trying to make i'm assuming, is that because the aftermarket price justifies the current Legacy set price, it's okay?
