It is not a yes/no question, difficult to answer the poll. I rarely check my change anymore, my best find has been a few silver quarters and a buffalo nickel.
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. Will’sProoflikes
I would have just changed the words 'yes' and 'no' to 'before' and 'after'. One cannot really answer the question which is asked with the options available.
As a "modern" collector, you shut out the classic collectors from your poll. I have not looked at pocket change for about thirty years, even then, it was only to see if the silver was clad or not.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

.I collect modern&classic I did not mean to shut you out.I have found some merc, silver washingtons and a few others in circ if you have not looked for a dd55 or dd68s or a sms coin you may be missing out!

Technically, it's hard to check it after it's already in the jar unless I remove it for the purpose of checking it or spending it. If I were to remove it and not spend it, then I'd put it back after checking it, so even if I check it after putting it in the jar, it'd be before I put it back in the jar in that case.
At any rate, I only look for state quarters for the family quarter albums.

You might want to change your poll options. The question is "before or after" and then the answers are "yes" and "no". It doesn't compute.
And for the record, I usually check before.
