four minutes and noone has pointed you towards the door, so let me be the one. this is just a bit too blatant of an example of flagrant rules violations. please delete the thread and take it where it needs to be.

Yeah, that's kinda what I said.

I went into a small coin shop, and aked about Ike Dollars. I got the same ol' ho-hum attitude, you know the routine. Anway, the owner finally got up out of his chair and went to the back room. He came out with some odds and ends, and a roll of 20 coins in a very dirty looking coin tube. We negotiated a price, and I brought them home.

Man, they are nice, they appear to have natural surfaces, nice hint of golden toning, and a couple lean to a very slight maroon color. I was gabberflasted when I got my grades back!!!! And, the ones that I didn't submit are pretty nice, too!!!!

The 1978 was always one of my favorite years, as they seem to be well struck and just all around pleasant to look at. But, they sure don't come around much outside of mint sets....not in my travels anyway!
  • Is your head messed up, delete the tread here and leave it on the BST (stands for buy, sell, TRADE)forum, this is the coin discussion forum, not the for sale board.

I don't think he gets it.
  • <<<<<<<<<<< I don't think he gets it. >>>>>>>>>>>>>

Maybe not but the wording and tone sounds a little arrogant. We should be helpful and a little more polite.

hey rcjes, the offending OP has been a member since Feb. 2005 so he should be well aware of the rules.

    Hi Jjrrww,

The buy, sell trade forum is the correct one on which to offer coins for trade or sale, but this forum is not for such purposes. Presumably you were unaware of that when you posted your Ike dollar for trade here. Best of luck to you.

    Edited to add:

<<hey rcjes, the offending OP has been a member since Feb. 2005 so he should be well aware of the rules.>>

He had all of 10 posts before the one here today, in roughly 18 months. It is entirely possible that he was understandably unaware of the rules and there was no need for anyone to treat him rudely.

Don't worry about some of the snobs around here. They bark but have no teeth. Welcome to the forum. Just go back to your first post and hit the edit key, add the paragraph on how you got the roll of Ikes and then change the title to read "PCGS MS66 1978D Ike found in roll"

In the future, if you have a coin for sale, trade or are buying, post on the BST Forum. But don't let these old farts scare you off.image

    Edited to add:
I see Coinguy1 had already address this issue, more diplomatic then me.image

You appear confused about the definition of ethics. While Coinguy1 certainly possesses an unasailable standard, the severity of responses to this thread have nothing to do with "ethics". Kindness and consideration perhaps, but not ethics.

  • Ok Russ, for better words then.... kindness and consideration.

OK, someone needs to point out where i was arrogant, impolite, un-nice, rude, etc, etc. Geez, i even used the word please. perhaps i was blunt, but so what. and ignorance is a poor excuse since the Forums Home Page clearly explains what each forum is for. you know, Mark, it seems i traveled this road with you, blatant abuse of the forum and obvious violation of the stated rules, via the PM route when you still worked for Pinnacle and you claimed ignorance.

this rules at this place are real simple and almost all members seem to me to be intelligent people. but go ahead and be thin-skinned if you must. and please, pile on!!!image

    edit for "underline" abuse!!image

If I "claimed ignorance", then such was the case. I wouldn't have pretended (you are of course free to believe I lied) and I have no reason to believe that the originator of this thread was pretending either. I can't comment beyond that, with respect to my alleged "blatant abuse of the forum and obvious violation of the stated rules" as it has been more than 2 years since I worked for Pinnacle.

Way to go making a MS67 Ike. Very tough to do in the circulated clad grades. My hat is off to you.

Mark, i guess i could believe that if you didn't seem to go to such extremes to impugn most of what i say.

<< <i>Mark, i guess i could believe that if you didn't seem to go to such extremes to impugn most of what i say. >>

I don't know what one has to do with the other - either you believe me or not, as you choose. And, I don't think I was as tough on you in this thread as you were on the original poster. The "last word" is yours is you want it.

"the Forums Home Page clearly explains what each forum is for." Where is this located? In your imagination? The only thing I can find on the home page is:

    U.S. Coin Forum
Talk about all types of U.S. coins with other collectors, dealers, and experts.

So as long as the op was talking about a U.S Coin (1978-D Ike) with other members (collectors, dealers and experts), nothing here says he can't offer it for sale. So when you write "four minutes and noone has pointed you towards the door, so let me be the one. this is just a bit too blatant of an example of flagrant rules violations. please delete the thread and take it where it needs to be. " "No one has pointed you towards the door, so let me be the one", this is not only a rude way to treat some one, but snobbish too.

Check this out for buying or trading coins with other members. Or, sell some of your own in this message board.

you may have missed this one under the BST heading. like i said, pile on if it suits you. he deleted the thread, the right thing to do since that isn't what this forum is for, there's a forum dedicated to trading and he knew that. defend him if you will, tell me i'm a rude mean guy, but in the end i doubt any member will come into the thread and tell you that this is the proper place to offer to trade coins, because it isn't. but, i digress.

May your stay here be filled with happiness and joy; the kind and gentle encouragement of your brother and sister collectors reverberate with good will and peace.
  • That was a pretty rude reception to a new poster.image
