The Jascha Heifetz Collection Auction in 1989....

I was looking through the cataloge and was quite impressed with the combination and scope of Proof gold, proof and ms type, rare date/key date type and pattern coinage with a good hunk of everything in between.
For those that were there for the auction, was it comparable in scope and quality to the Eliasberg sale? Any comments or memorable coins?

<< <i>Interesting. I remembered it being quite a bit of money. His unauthorized biography by Herbert R. Axelrod seemed impressed with how little money he left behind. They didn't take into account his 17 million dollar coin collection or, I suppose, his instrument collection or rare book collection and God knows what else. >>
IMHO, Axelrod was too corrupt to have his word taken on any subject at all. His donation of musical instruments to a NJ orchestra whose pedigree and value all came under much scrutiny; the sale of his publishing empire, with its grossly inflated sales figures and large stores of "sold" books and publications, and the subsequent trail of lawsuits; his flight to Cuba just ahead of the warrant for his arrest; these all cast doubt on anything this man might ever have said.
What percentage of the catalogue do you suspect was Heifetz' Andy?
What was the warrant issued for regarding the writer Brad?

I'd guess less than 10%.
