Lincoln error question

Does anyone have a good clear picture of the 1983 Double Die? I was under the impression it was a reverse Double die until someone claimed the other day that it was obverse. A picture or description would be most appreciated. Thanks.

It is a reverse doubled die. The RedBook has an okay image of it. Someone here can probably post an image of the whole coin. I do not own one, so I can not.

Showtime...your friend may be thinking of the 1984 DDO 'Doubled Ear'??

Although there are three doubled die obverses listed in the cherrypicker's guide, they are rather minor, while the doubled die reverse is generally what is referred to when speaking of the '1983 Doubled Die'.

As 66RB just mentioned, there are several obverse doubled dies known on 1983 cents, a couple of them are actually pretty strong. However, the capital-D "Doubled Die" in all the price guides and pop reports is a doubled die reverse.
