Home U.S. Coin Forum

today i went to a parallel universe(the other side) and saw many other posters that are regulars her

for my first trip ever to the ngc forum i was shocked. there were so many names that i know from this site posting over there too(mark feld, michael, tubbs, mikeinlf, igwt, and cladking for example).

what are the main differences between the two forums? is one more scholarly? one more social? where do the bid boys hang out? do they bash pcgs over there? what grading companies do those posters consider to be inferior?

i was shocked to see posting by those that post here as well. is it typical to monitor both forums and participate on both?

lastly, how do you people have time for both sites? i can hardly keep up with one, especially with the gold buffalo coming out.

  • I actually moved over here since the second IHC debacle. I am so upset with NGC over that!

It's Bizarro World across the street. What's good is bad, and what's bad is good. For example, Coinguy1 is a completely different person on the other side, and he relishes his role as the forum troll. image

There are a few other forums as well. Most people use the same name on each but
some have a different name or several different.

All the forums go through a steady evolution and any statement made today about
one might not hold true tommorow.

I post regularly on both sites, though my posting frequency is higher on the NGC site than the PCGS site. My opinion, from reading both sites regulary for a number of years, is that the NGC site has a slightly higher signal-to-noise ratio than the PCGS site, though there are perturbations in the measurement for each. I post more often at NGC because the board lacks the dynamism that the PCGS board currently has, and I think that it is vitally important to have more than one viable and vibrant posting site for the hobby/industry.

The current debacle regarding blue-toned IHCs is indeed unfortunate, and perpetrated by a member of the PCGS boards (braddick) and the NGC boards (gmarguli). The PCGS boards seem to be able to absorb such flotsam and jetsam rather easily due to their high posting frequency while the NGC boards get mired in a circular, semantic debate. I would urge all the regular PCGS users to take a look at the NGC boards from time to time and to post actively there because there are many wonderful threads posted exclusively at the NGC site...I know, because I post some of them.

I don't know how people can post in two places. I barely have time to post here.

Wonder if NGC's policy will ever change re: e-mail addy's? image Esp. now that AOL is moving towards free accounts.

Not that there's anything wrong w/that image Why is the word bra singular but panties plural? image
  • now that we have a change with the open forum closed- did more posters leave the coin forum and go over to ngc?
