Has anyone received their "Free" SAE as advertized in the 2007 RedBook?
In the 2007 redbook there is an advertizement offering 2 free SAEs for anyone that calls a phone number.
I did a couple months ago and was given a high pressure sales pitch for a bunch of platinum, I told them to stuff the platinum and send me my free silver.
The told me it would be mailed that week.
A couple weeks later they called me and gave me a bunch of verbal crap because I hadn't paid for the SAEs, I reminded them that they were "FREE". They said ok and that they'd ship them that week.
I still haven't seen them.
I'd say that the company advertizing that offer was a full blown skunk! What a way to make sure you never get someone's business ever again.

The guy took about 2 weeks to get back to me since he was out on vacation. I had forgotten all about it frankly. He apologized, was super nice/easy going and sent off the coins. I received them about a week later for a total fee of $10 for shipping.
I had no negative feelings about the call at all. When he asked about my collecting goals, I just let him know I was a small timer for now but appreciated his offer and would contact him in the future.
Perhaps you should call him back and check in.

This same company which is to quote them "one of 10 related companies" which all use different names but all residing in Beaumont, Tx.
Well anyway, they advertise in the NRA Rifleman and offered an ASE NGC GU for "Free + 9.95 shipping/handling". Yes I did order one. Yes I did receive it as advertised. So at that point I'm thinking maybe.... a source for other stuff... maybe....
Well the first call is super high pressure, and wants immediate approval so that they could send me 4 AGE's in MS69 (didn't state TPGer) for....... are you ready...... $1800.00 Each! I say no and he says well if your short on cash right now, I'll just send you 2 then; "NO"; ok he says then just take one... You all get the idea.
From that time on he calls and always has some GREAT DEAL (usually 300% - 400% overpriced). I've told him(them) to quit calling me... that didn't work. I wrote them a letter to say QUIT CALLING ME.... that didn't work either.
Now I just don't answer the phone.
Maybe if I send them the ASE back they'd leave me alone...... but I doubt it.
Sorry, had to vent on this one.
Than for about 2 weeks it was a call every-other-day. Everytime I said do not call back. I got called on Saturday once and hear "We usually are not in on Saturday, but did you hear what is going on with Standing Liberty Quarters." I told him I did not believe him and than he tried to give me a guilt trip about how I was missing out on the deal of my life time
The bottom line is do not do business with UCB. They will lie and cheat and of course...try to take your money. Do not call or you will be harassed with their phone calls. Take warning. Do not be suckered in for the silver eagles.
Maybe because I gave them my cell number?
It sounds like I got lucky or they truly believed was to low financially to be a concern.
I am glad I got those free ones and think I got very fortunate not to have these experiences you all have had to deal with.

Back when in the late 1980's there was some company - forgot the name - that advertised on TV that they were giving away "Free Red Books" . I swallowed the "free-bait" and called. I had to listen to how the stock market brokers were strongly urging their clients to buy high end graded slabbed coins that the market was red hot ( you all know the pitch ). When the boiler-maker-salesman took a breath I asked that they send me their prospectus and the "Free Red Book".
I got inundated with calls and received tons of flyers and brochures - even a VHS tape on "Collecting Rare Coins For Investment"...but no Red Book.
Not to be deterred, I called again ( I know, I know, I'm a glutton for punishment ) asking where my "Free Red Book " was. The guy told me that book wasn't worth the paper it was printed on and that noone believed the prices listed in the book. I told him it was a "Guide" and not the "Bible"...he ended up hanging up on me. He also never called me again when he realized he wasn't going to dupe a collector.
Sorry to hear the likes of that old company are now in the Red Book. The publisher should be made aware of this newer company's action and refuse to allow them to advertise again in the future.
Thanks for the head's up LanLord. I won't be calling for a "Free ASE"...
