Indian Head Tragedy....sniffle sniffle

Hello Folks....I have some indian head pennies in ancient plastic flips. The problem is that a plastic film is stuck
to the back of most of them. What's a collector to do? Also, I have one with a sticky substance on it, possible glue or tape.
Is there any safe way of removing it without damaging, cleaning the coin?

Hard to tell without seeing it in hand, but you may be able to carefully cut the majority of the plastic away and use acetone to remove the remainder.

It may all be for naught if that's PVC residue though

Thx Lanlord.....I was able to carefully peel the plastic away, and it worked great. As for the gumminess,
where do I get this Acetone, that you speak so highly of???

Go to your local hardware store... get it there, but try to find the purest stuff you can find... search the forum and you'll find numerous threads with advice on how to acetone a coin...

Yes, please search for old threads about using acetone for further information. You must use a glass (not plastic) container and do it outside far away from any possible sparks or flames. Acetone is highly flammable and toxic.
