Would you buy one of these (no, not a gold bison) ?

If you saw one of these at a coin show for $1,600, would you buy one if there were only FIVE minted in gold, ever ?
Specifications: 39mm diameter, 50 grams .999 gold, reeded edge.
I'm contemplating producing these, but I need to gauge the interest beforehand.
Due to the tooling and fabrication costs, they would need to be priced well above the melt value.
I'm thinking the very limited production might justify the price.

If I make them, only 5 would me minted, no more. I consider it a modern "so-called dollar". But I don't know what PCGS would call it.
This is a semi-interesting piece. However, I can think of many other ways I'd rather spend my money.

Now if you did a silver proof, for about the same price as an ASE. Put me down for one please.
Love the design. And THINK it would be more collectable than any of the Franklin mint fakes "repros" They addvertise.

Anyway, I wish I could produce more of them at closer to melt value. But the reality is that I will have to pay for the gold up front, and at about $1,000 in gold per medal, I can't affort to make very many (not to mention the cost of the dies, planchet fabrication, and striking) !
If I do make these, it is likely that Northwast Territorial Mint would make the planchets. They are well-respected in the industry for precious metals planchets and bars. I might also have the medals certified by ICG (they would probably list the gold weight and content on the holder).
It looks like I will go ahead and make 5 of them. I'll probably keep one for my own collection
I'm also contemplating making 10 in palladium (1 oz troy).
PS: The "Frankilin Mint" has been out of business for some time. The reproduction coins you see touted on TV and in newspapers are marketed by the "National Collectors Mint".
But I want to keep one for my collection and I want to
have one in stock for my debut table at the Denver ANA
in August.
So I'll definitely be making them (five of them, to be exact).

Good for you. You have the talent.
Too bad you didn't reword it and weren't able to do 10. I see 8 "Yes" votes, so if they would have had the same answer at 10, then you would have sold all 8, kept one, and still had just 1 left over for the table debut.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Sorry about that. The fact that an individual offered to take up to five, and pay for them UP FRONT,
is allowing me to finance this project (otherwise it might not have happened).
I'm also going to make 9 in 1-oz palladium. Four of those are available.

Yes, I will never forget that episode either.
That is why I don't do any more artwork for the National Collectors Mint.
You can blame me for the artwork. You can blame them for the marketing (and the design's content).

I think that is a wonderful design. Price is out of reach for me, plus I don't really collect moderns, but I appreciate an exquisite design when I see one.
