eBay Buyers Out There: This is NOT how to send a question about a coin.

I just got this in my messages folder. This is NOT how to send a seller a question about a coin. IMHO.

hi
i offered you $650 for the coin. you either want the $650 or not. you put it out there for everone to see, so at the last second someone will bid $603 and get the coin. if thats what you would do to me; i dont want to do business with you. my offer was more than fair for this coin. check the price guides all of them, and you see i offered more than it is listed for anywhere. either accept my offer in 24 hours or i withdraw my offer. i am not trying to be a jagoff. think about what i said.

thanks and i hope we have a deal:

Gee, and I always thought "jagoff" was a Pittsburgh word. Where is the guy from?

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Search his eBay ID and see if he's ever sold anything. If he has look for the seller location in the auction.

I'm done with best offer listings... Unless they are on 10 cent listing day.... I have gotten the most ridiculous offers one can imagine.

He/she just sent me an offer last night. This is the first question he/she sent me and I've never had any coorespondence with this person ever.

i am not trying to be a jagoff.

I don't think he has to try. It appears to be quite natural.

Post them here we can use some laughs.

I think I'd send back that with his attitude I don't want to do business with him. And then block him so he can't be the guy to step in at the last second with a snipe bid to try and win it for less than his offer. (in case it doesn't get that high.)

I also sell Silver and Bronze age comics and had an offer on a comic that was listed at $105... and the offer was $60.... This comic routinely hammers at $90-110 in the graded condition it is in the CGC holder for... Amazing

Oh, believe me, "jagoff" is commonly used outside of Pittsburgh - though it is incredibly popular there. I heard a lot of it when I lived in New York as well.

By the way, this guy needs to be blocked, IMHO.

This person will neg you even if you sold it at the offered price. They will probably neg you if they win the auction for a lower price. Some people just are not reasonable. I'd block the person.

I don't sell much, but a friend of mine does and he tells me the same thing. His latest offer which was about 2 weeks ago was for a $200 item that some idiot offered him $25! LOL! He says he gets many lowball offers like that, although usually it's not as low as the $25. image

I've lowball offered before. Not horribly low, but low enough to be declined. I just offered someone $600 for a MS buffalo. I figure they had 9 left out of the 10 they started with, and they probably got them for $5??, but they turned me down as expected. I hope someday to get accepted by someone with a big heart. It hasn't happened yet though.

I once had a guy that won one of my auctions that ended around $100. The idiot emailed me the next day saying he couldn't afford the auction price and offered $50. I refused and said I'd wait the given 10 days for payment and would offer to the next highest bidder if payment wasn't received. I got his payment through the mail about 5-6 days later.
