Goofbay caves in to eBay...

From the Goofbay web site:

eBay recently asked us to remove a large number of our tools, we held strong and hoped that they would see Goofbay as a site designed to help buyers and sellers have a safe eBay experience. Unfortunately, they did not see it this way and have forced our hand. These tools have now had to be removed. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.

I would urge everyone to sign their petition, if the spirit moves you...

Only idiots bid on private auctions. Why are you so concerned about their well being?

Well, there are lots of "idiots" or "ill informed" out there who get ripped off. While I agree that such "idiots" should know better, that does not mean it is right for Ebay to give crooks a tool to take advantage of said "idiots".

too bad they did not set that site up in mother russia while
using someone who lived in fiji's identity (permitted of course),
    preferably a 12 year old.

HAH, then watch ebay squirm in the wind.
if the russian ISP screws you, try one in china, etc...

If they could turn their tools into an stand alone software program that people could download, eBay would have a tough time shutting it down once it got out. The would of course stop the download site but hopefully people would spread it privately, much like DVD decription software is done.

It is a shame that eBay seems to be protecting the guilty power screwers.

Too bad this was goofbays plan all along. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire site was created solely for the purpose of eventually "selling out" to Ebay. It's a quick way to make 6 or 7 figures and then never have to worry about it again.

Who knows what the story is for real but I'm guessing there is no 6 or 7 figures being offered to stop Goofbay. Ebay just cut off their access and probably threatened them legally if they continue.

It would be cool to see a good reporter pick up on this one and report both sides.

Doesn't sound like they "caved", sounds like they got kicked out.

    I agree.

Anyway, I signed the petition. Goofbay helped me find out that the bidders in a private auction I was interested in were all legitimate. I ended up winning the coin at a very good price.

There are other sites that do the exact things that Goofbay does.

I signed the petition too though.

Although it wont penetrate private feedback, there are similar tools to goofbay located here.

I think the correct term is "bidiots."

I agree with the guy who said goobay helped investigate some private auction bidders, all seemed legit, and I bid too.

would not if I couldn't have looked them up.
