Coin Clubs - New York City Area
Good Evening Everyone....I was considering joining a coin club in the NYC area. Is anyone a member and does anyone know of any names or locations? I've never been in a coin club, but i am hoping that it would be fun and educational...Thx for your assistance

Are you interested in a coin club in New Jersey? or Westchester? or Long Island?
There are several clubs in suburban New Jersey. (I can give you details on the New Jersey clubs.)
Also, fellow board member Jon Lerner is president of the Westchester Coin Club (which meets in White Plains) - it sounds like a very active club.

to Staten Island would be great. I am only 10 mins. from NJ, so a venue in this area is fine as well.
Thank you all...

I have a faint idea that there's a Staten Island coin club, but perhaps you can ask a Staten Island dealer (such as Dan Davis - 718-370-2600 or sicoins@aol.com).
As for NJ clubs, I've recently joined the NJ Numismatic Society, which meets the third Monday of the month (except August) in Madison.
There are also clubs in Demarest, Succasunna, Clifton and Chatham. (If any of these locations appeal to you, pm me for meeting details.)

Edited to add:
Despite the ANS' reputation as an elitist organization - far less true today than in the past - anyone in the NYC area should visit the ANS Library at least once and attend at least one of the annual COACs before writing off the ANS.

Sorry I didn't list the ANS. I was thinking of clubs that have monthly meetings, so I didn't list the ANS, GSNA or any of the specialty clubs. But now that you've mentioned it. . .
lkrarecoins,
Are you interested in joining any of the specialty clubs that don't necessarily have meetings, but do produce interesting journals, such as the Liberty Seated Collectors Club, Barber Coin Collectors Club, John Reich Society (?), etc.?

As far as what type of club I am looking to attend, i would say it would be one with meetings, so I can meet people and chat face to face.
Thanks everyone....
