The contest has ended and as soon as I finish setting up a defensive perimeter I will post, dare I say it, another poll. My 1st poll; the infamous poll to set up a poll went over like a lead baloon. I'm going to try to keep it simple and fair. After sage advice from someone I consider my Mentor on this board I'm going to give it careful thought and will try to get it up middle of next week; God willing and the creek don't rise. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who participated. We have many members who encourage pics. as a way to learn about our hobby and IMO has become a hobby in itself. I would mention names but I'm afraid I might forget someone. Before I mash, "reply to thread", I'm going to grab a six pack, mash reply and run for the bomb shelter. jws
What we need is not the will to believe, but the wish to find out, which is exactly the opposite. Bertrand Russell
I would never discourage anyone from posting a coin pic. Coin pics are a fantastic way for collectors and dealers to gain knowledge. As the technology evolves it will become an extremely important aspect of the hobby/business.
Please never hesitate to post a pic. on this thread or the many others that have done far more than this thread to foster the knowledge, enthuaism and expertise required.
Please do not be afraid to ask for help. I did. We all have to start somewhere. The pics. I have had the pleasure to see on the board can sometimes be discouraging. They are so good and if you are like me can not even imagine how they do that. Look at the pics. and then inquire. You will receive, but if you don't ask you will spend a whole lot of time trying to get it right, get frustrated and quit.
I know it can be a daunting task. You have to take the pic. and then figure out how to post it. There are numerous people on the board that will and do help.
There are many on the board that wish to encourage this hobby of coin pics. As I am a neophyte in coin pics. I can only offer encouragment. They can and will give you the benefit of their knowledge. They gave it to me.
Just for fun I'd love to see some 1st coin pics. to inspie those of us who are still trying to figure this illusive art out.
To keep it simple and easy for me,{read selfish, lazy here} I will most likely end up awarding 3 prizes. I'm going to let Renee be the judge on the other 2 winners. Those that entered after the closing and professional. I won't bore you with the details but I must CMA. The absolute closing will be when I post the poll. Back to the bomb shelter. lol

Well, here's an unAmerican coin to enjoy anyway....my all-time favorite Shooting Taler.
If I still can, here's my entry which I took recently, I don't believe posted here before, and of a design typically among the "ugliest" of US coins:
