my ANR story

lavalava Posts: 3,287 ✭✭✭
I had three coins on my radar screen, all Morgans (yes I know, they suck)(they really don't), and I opted to wait to post bids and......

got distracted and next thing I know the auction was over. I've gotten over it though.

I missed out. I'm sure you all have a similar experience, most likely on ebay since they have auctions going 24/7.

Hope the ANR participants here had better luck.

I have missed a few manual snipes I would have made, no doubt.

Something you might coinsider is to get dealer representation, viewing the lots beforehand and forumlating a bidding strategy if the coin is all there. That way you can sleep knowing it's somebody else's problem to get the coin for you. image Take care...Mike

p.s. I took my own advice and as a result passed on a coin that had I not had representation would have likely been on the way to me right now with no recourse.

Lava: I am sorry that you misfired on the 3 Morgan Dollars which were on your radar screen. Out of curiosity which 3 were they? You could post photo links if you'd like.

Here is my ANR story... in case you might be interested...

Sorry you missed the Morgans Lava, from a selfish point of view. I had aroud 45 in the sale! Several of my individual lots went very cheaply and were very high end for the grade. I should have placed higher reserves on the coins, since I lost a lot of $ on several- image

Sorry to hear that Morgannut. I'll have to go back and skim through the catalogue and compare with the auctions results.

Stuart, I was looking at the `82-cc in 66pl (looked cleaner than most), the `86-o in 62 dmpl (not nearly as nice as the one sold recently by Superior, but considerably cheaper), and the `96-o, which may have been the most intriguing of the 3, because it may have a shot at pl (a very tough coin, I have an NGC 58pl, but a pl in a PCGS holder would be sweet)

Looks like someone tested the reverse by checking to see if was plated. Probably done by a non-collector who found it in change.

Oreville -- Congratulations on your success! Tell me, though, did you buy the coin or the plastic? image

lava, sorry you didn't get what you wanted !!

btw I thought I had quite conclusively established that Morgans do NOT suck.
In fact, there was even a poll to prove it !!

My new sigline also does NOT suck (RYK, you asked for it !!) ...

    Best,
