I am thinking about selling off several of my coins to pay for my sons college. I dont have coins that are in the HUGH amount $$$ but some are not bad. Example. I have the Modern Comm Siler at PR69 PCGS and about 1/2 of the gold. I have a few Binion and Battle Creek coins and a few rolls of CH BU Morgans and peace common dates. I also have some nice pedigree coins that came from a huston bank back in the 1920's with the morgan dollar still in the little plastic case that says what the coin is and what bank gave them away. They toned nicly and are about a MS63/64 MS. These are jsut some examples but I want to know if I would get more auctioning them off to an auction house or selling them on ebay? What are my pro's and con's on both.. Thanks again and I am looking for infomation from the Pros out there that have done both>

But for lower priced item and common items you'll do just as well if not better on ebay.

Ebay cons: much more work (listing auctions/packing/shipping to individual buyers), risk of scammers
Auction pros: can't think of any
Auction cons: probably higher fees than ebay, wait longer for your money
The Buy/Sell/Trade board here vs. ebay pros: less work than ebay, less risk of scammers, no fees to pay
The Buy/Sell/Trade board here vs. ebay cons: you have to name your asking price, it's not an auction.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

And, you have to deal with a lot of cheapasses.

This usually the worst time of the year to sell coins on eBay. With the sun and summer, people are outdoors more and on vacations.
That leaves the only the cheapest of the nice people on eBay left to rip your coins, since they are even too cheap to go on a vacation.
Unfortunately pre-1995 modern gold PCGS proofs go for a little more than melt value nowadays.
If you go to the Advanced Search on eBay and check the []Completed Listings Only box you can see what the coins you have have sold for.
As Kranky said, you can try the BST Forum.
If they don't sell there, then list them on eBay

Who is this "Hugh" person, and how much money does he actually have?
