coin collecting on ebay is more of a sick joke then a hobby. lets all watch people new to the hobby walk the field sown with landmines that is known as ebay.
No the slab is nothing like NTC. It is almost certainly a self slabber and I will just about bet the slabs are not sealed. They are using a cheap generic shell available from a distributor in OH and also from a supply dealer in Florida. (Probably others by now). It uses a low density plastic shell with a foamed plastic insert and the label is printed up on your home printer. There are quite a few "companies" using these shells now, but the NTC shell is a custom class act compared to these.
<< <i>Expert Grading Company. Man, what's next by these people? I cant find a website, but that's not a suprise. >>
Ya think that's what people may have thought when PCGS started.
Just because they are new doesn't automatically make them bad does it??
Just imagine the threads on here if YOU personally tried to start a perfectly legitimate grading service that graded fairly and for a price that would beat the competition.

Valid points. I think that these new companies are springing up simply to fleece novices in online auction venues. Just my opinion and yes I am prejudging. If Expert Grading Company can prove to me that it is a legitimate grading service, I will accept their service as useful to the hobby. That takes years, of course. The appearance of their slab does not inspire confidence. The fact that no one in the hobby has heard of them (that I know about) does not inspire confidence.
Proud recipient of YOU SUCK more than once and less than 100 times.

This is an excellent point, though my gut instinct tells me that if a new one was a serious start-up, it would be launched professionally, with a web site up before launching, news releases detailing the names and qualifications of the graders, and also, a distinctive (and quality) slab which is manufactured for them by someone. I also think that it would take serious money to start up a serious grading service. A first appearance on eBay will not inspire much confidence on behalf of anyone, except the chumps who can't get past reading CERTIFIED in the subject line...

Get real, Ken. You know damned well that these slabbers that have been sprouting up like mushrooms after a rain storm are nothing more than a holder with a label.
Looking back at some of the other items this person has sold Original Bank wrapped (mixed) nickels it isn't hard to believe that they would make the jump to kitchen table grading.
Expert Grading Company? More like Ersatz Grading Company.

Would you care to point out where I said they are not???
Simple, these companies are popping up because you make more money being a grader than a dealer. I have been trying to say that for the most part graders are overpaid relative to full time dealers income. As long as that is so and the dealers and collectors demand and are willing to pay the price they do, companies will pop up and graders will make good money.
I manage money. I earn money. I save money . I give away money. I collect money. I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

No, a typical Russ response because you can't show where I said what you proposed that I said.
