Anyone ever nailed for transaction interference on eBay?
Hi Everyone:
I was wondering if anyone here had ever been called out for transaction interference
on eBay, by virtue of a critical posting here, or on RCC, for example.
I read all of the postings here, and, while a large percentage of them are perfectly legitimate,
IMHO, some are borderline, and would probably not stand up to close scrutiny.
Do you rely on "the truth is the ultimate defense" when you do this, or what?
I am really curious about this.
Thanks!
John

<< <i>Most of the time when someone is trying to "interefere," it's a scam or other fraudulent activity (AT coins) they're trying to stop, and with perfectly good intentions. I have not seen a case where a dealer or collector was trying to interfere with an auction in order to cause problems for their competitors. >>
I would say that I agree with you, based upon what I have read here.
However, I do not believe all of the postings fit your description. I'm not trying to pass judgment, by any means, just trying
to see how people feel about the potential for abuse.

Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
<< <i>John, do you have a link for this RCC? I see it mentioned a lot, and would like to check it out. Thanks. >>
It's a Usenet group. All you need is news reader software and a news server available. Look for a group called "rec.collecting.coins."
Also, you can access it through Google.
Just remember that it's a completely unmoderated, uncensored environment, with all the good AND bad that implies.
Not by eBay, but by a scammer I pissed off.
He bought some of my items and immeadiately left me negs from a couple of his other fake accounts.
It took a couple of weeks, but eBay removed the negs and refunded my final value fees since his address was fake.
So I learned don't mess with scammers if you have items for sale

Hi Russ:
Fair enough. I was thinking about all of the This is a scam! threads here, when 50-65% of the esteemed
numismatist respondents opine that the listing is no scam at all. Maybe creative marketing, or something similar.

How was that 50-65% figure derived?
By the way, 85.3% of all statistics are made up.
