Has PCGS ever been tighter with the DCAM designation?

I would bet this is as tight PCGS has ever been since they have been recognizing the DCAM designation. Man...they are killing me.image

Nope. My Kennedy DCAM came back as CAM. I assume they just gave it the
point bump, even though the DCAM is worth 3x.

I'm not playing that game, where you re-submit until they DCAM it, it's silly.

my impression is that with Proof coinage the way they judge things hasn't really changed.
  • I keep getting my Dcam's. Maybe you people are missing some detail that keeps it out of Dcam.

Just ask Russ, PCGS is never wrong on the CAM, DCAM and NO CAM designation!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Yes, and the DCAM upgrades I got on my last designation review prove it.

For 1970 and earlier material, yes, they are tougher on the DCAM designation than they were a few years ago.

I've heard sometimes of NGC (And maybe this applies with PCGS too) that a lot of times a coin goes through the grading room and might not get a star when it obviously deserves one, but when you send it back for designation review, that you'll get it... it might be something of that the graders are so rushed, that they don't take the proper time to look at that, and so don't grade it properly, but when it goes back for a designation review, all they are looking at is that designation... DCAM/CAM, Star, FS, FBL, whatever... image

    George,

That makes perfect sense. In addition to that, when I sent them in for review I sent along regular solid cameos with them. The DCAMs were obvious by comparison, so I think that also helped. In any event, for the 10 fold value increase, the $10 was certainly worth it.

I gave up submitting DMPL Morgans because of their habit of BBing DMPLs for altered surfaces. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was their BBing a Morgan that had been cracked from a PCGS slab.

It's O.K. with me if they keep it tighter than a tick. That will make help my Franky Set hold its value.
