I just completed my 1976 Topps set!!!

Sorry to toot my own horn, but I just finished my 1976 Topps set with the aquisition of #302 Rick Miller! I am too excited not to share it with those of you who appreciate the work and money involved. 1976 was the first year I started collecting baseball cards as a kid and it was also a pretty good time to be a Reds fan. I only need to replace 7 PSA 8's to have all 9's or 10's. I will continue to upgrade (although although Bob's (rbdjr1) set is out of reach at number 1.

Thanks eb31. I noticed your Pete Rose pic. Are you a Pete Rose fan or a Reds fan?

Also, I want to thank all of those sellers that have helped me obtain some really nice cards.

CIncyfan, GREAT job man! It is cool to see someone who does not post much pop on and let us know what you have been spending all of your time on image

Really, these monster "modern" sets are very difficult to complete. Not because of availability but because most just burn out way before the finish line.

Post a link to the set!

    COPPER is gutter !

    No apologies!

That's what some of us live for!

    Whether it's PSA 10 or - 10, it's an accomplishment.

I know a lot of hours of time were spent hunting down that many cards. The shear weight in plastic alone is mind numbing! image

How about showing the last card? It's a monument to your work.

    Congratulations and thanx for sharing!

Cincyfan, way to go. A truly awesome set, and one of my favorites as a youngster as well. Did you finish the traded set as well?

Absolutely fantastic!! Congrats are in order! As nice as those cards are, I can't imagine what the #1 set looks like. A 70's set in all 9 and up is a tall order. You must be on cloud nine.

    Congrats!

I started this set about a year ago...but burned out. So many cards! It really is very difficult to complete any set that has 500+ cards. That is a boatload of PSA 10s you got there.

Way to go, Tim. I'm only about 340 cards and five years behind you.

I just recently started working on this set myself so congrats on a great job! image

P.S.-After looking at the pop report this thing will be a chore to do in 9's as I am doing!

I only saw 1 double digit number in the pop higher column and it was a 10. There were an awful lot of 0's in the same column. Way to go, congratulations.

    Congratulations on Completion!!!image

1976 Topps was the first complete set I obtained from a dealer. I remember going with my Dad to the card shop on my 10th birthday (3/25) and picking it up. It was a big deal for me, as my dad rarely took us out to run errands on a weeknight. It is a great memory of mine. I recently put that same set in plastic pages to enjoy.

I'm sure you will have as much fun enjoying your set!!!

CincyFan - Great Effort on a beautiful set. My daughter is working on it as well so I can really appreciate nice cards from this set. Best of luck getting those last few upgrades.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I have been working on the set for about 3 1/2 years. I am not sure yet if I want to tackle another set that big. I also want to complete the 76 traded set (only 44 cards!). I have a PSA 9 checklist and about 6 other cards in PSA 10.

If any of you who are working on the set are interested, I do have some extra PSA 8s and 9s. Email me at cincyfan01@aol.com with your want lists.

That's an awesome feat with some great card memories for me! I'm closing in on completing my first graded card set that I've assembled card by card and it is only 100 deep. How you guys stay focused on a single set for so long I'll never know.

    Big props brother!

As I'm reading this thread - I'm staring at a framed uncut 76T sheet - No Eck but it does have Aaron, McCovey, Schmidt, Jackson, Palmer, Carter, Ruth and Williams SN etc.

It's a favorite of mine - I was at Columbia that year, me and my best friend would go to a 7-11 type store near the school and I would always pick up a pack or 2 and Alex would say - are you out of you mind?
Aren't you a bit old for BB cards? He just didn't get it. But then again, neither does my wife!!!!

    Mike,

That uncut sheet sounds great. I have thought about getting some uncut sheets, but I just don't have the wall space with all of the other framed pieces that I have. My wife is kind enough to give me one room. She even let me put in astro-turf from Riverfront Stadium/Cinergy Field down instead of carpet. But she doesn't want to see baseball stuff in the other rooms!
