1880-CC 8/7 GSA Morgan question

VetterVetter Posts: 797 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just picked up a small collection today. In it was this 1880-CC looks like a 8/7 in a GSA box. Collecting mostly Buffalos I really don't know much about Morgans. Does the 8/7 add any value to it? I know my picture isn't the best, but what grade do you think it is? Thanks for any insight on this coin.

Sometimes dealers try to charge a premium for 8/7, but their fairly common. How 'bout a pic of the rev.

I'll say 63PL. This date comes baggy and I'm told it sometimes "gets a point" from the TPGs.

    That's the 8/7 High VAM 5.

I like it as a 63, and the fact it is still in the GSA holder makes it worth roughly 10-20% more than the same coin/variety/grade not in the holder.
    When in doubt, don't.

PCGS book value of 1880 cc ms63 of 520, 8/high 7 at 535, 8/low 7 at also at 535. The 8/7 adds a small premium. The 8/low 7 is a little scarcer than the 8/ high 7, which is a little more rare than the regular 1880 cc.
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

QD Bowers says ALL 1880 CC's are overdates of some kind.Looks like the 'dash under 8' type.

Nice ms63+,I agree with DennisH,its worth more in the GSA holder.image
