I think we should remove everything from coins and mint them all to look like Bar Cents.

Nope! It means "Out of Many, One" I believe which is what makes up the "United" States of America.

    From www.greatseal.com

    Out of Many, One
The Latin motto "E pluribus unum" was suggested by the first Great Seal committee in 1776. It means "Out of many, one." For the final design in 1782, Charles Thomson placed this motto on a scroll carried in the beak of an American eagle.

"E pluribus unum" is a clear reference to the thirteen states united into one nation – as symbolized by the shield on the eagle's breast. Thomson said "the Motto alludes to this union."

E pluribus unum is also symbolized by the constellation of thirteen stars and the bundle of thirteen arrows.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I might be hitting a sore subject. But sure why not take that off, but then put on a spanish translation of all the english words on
all the US Currancy. Everything else in the US is getting spanish written on it. Sorry this was a rant......

NO NO NO. Keep it the way it is. And don't dare take off the word "GOD" either. Why can't people just leave things the
way they are. If you don't like it, then sorry about your problem. There's 10,000,000 more problems to deal with in the world
then taking some words off a coin....

Federalism is what makes this country great: the fact that we are a federation of fifty states, each with its own constitution, governor, legislature and courts. This gives us fifty experimental venues to develop different laws, policies, jurisprudence and social programs. When one is successful, it often is adopted in other states, and eventually by the federal government. "E Pluribus Unum" is the essence of federalism, a reminder that the federal government arose from the collective power of the peoples of its member states. Whether your political allegiance lies on the left or right side of the aisle: conservatives or liberals, libertarians, centrists, Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike can all find great value in the precepts of federalism.

Edited to add: So, by the way, that's a "NO !!!"

With the relief of modern coinage going..........going...........gone, it won't be long before we have blank slugs with reeding circulating. Then no one will have any problems with what is on U.S. coins and how to get rid of it.
Enjoy each day as though it was your last.

As early as the 1870s, Mint Director Linderman wanted to remove EPU from coins. He felt it duplicate the meaning of United States of America.

I wouldn't mind it if occasionally some coins had mottos pertinent to the actual designs on them. It would be more interesting if the coins all didn't say the same thing all the time.

Replace with it's English meaning imageimageimage

Yes and replace it with A PLURIBUS UNUM followed by I O and U in rotation so that all of the vowels are treated alike. image

  • No. But there are U.S. coins that do not display "E Pluribus Unum."
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.
  • Whats Latin for "worthless fiat money"? image

    How about "Fiat Pecunia Nequam"?

Fiat is already a Latin verb, so I don't think we can use it as an adjective. It means 'let there be made', so this could have the appropriate double meaning of "Let worthless money be made"!

If anyone who actually knows Latin wants to correct me, please by all means!

I've always liked E PLURIBUS UNUM for some reason. We should include more latin on our coins. image

How about "non gratum aum rodentum" or we don't give a rat's ass.

Well by that logic it should never have been put on in the first place, so I guess by your own argument it should removed. image
