What's the most valuable NGC coin you own that PCGS crossed at the same grade?

Just curious what everyone's experience was on this situation.

I crossed a couple of PR68CAM Accented Hair Kennedys, but I submitted them for another forum member. They went from $200 coins to $1200 coins. Actually, one of them sold for more - a LOT more - but that was a fluke.

That I personally got crossed? This one:

If you extend it to what crossed before I owned it, the answer would be different.

    During a free promotion a few years ago, I crossed a PF67 1937 buffalo.

I wouldn't pay a wooden nickel to cross, but that was a freebie.

Nothing. I've attempted to cross about 24 outstanding NGC coins with a 0% hit rate. But curiously my rate with ANACS and PCGS in resubmits for upgrades is 100%. I've sent in cracked out NGC coins to PCGS and had most grade the same or go up a point. A few did go down a point. But my cross rate is abysmal. Even Heritage sent in a bunch of my best coins for me as a trial (coins we agreed on) and as a group only 1 coin of 12 crossed. That was a $5K seated half.

Russ looked at a 7 or 8 of my NGC accented hair 68cam Kennedys, picked out the two that had the pcgs look , sent them in and both crossed.

Barely crossed my mind to cross my NGCs at PCGS. Is that like a rule or something? I have crossed ANACS and ICG at both of them, but I don't see much reason in the long run, at least not for now, to do this.

I can't imagine how many coins Russ has looked at in his realtive short time in the hobby, but, yes, he has the eye.

Didn't cross at the same grade, but instead went up a point (yes, submitted in the holder):

    1880-O Morgan VAM 49, went from an NGC-61 to a PCGS-62. image
(One of just seven Mint State examples of this variety known to exist.)

Wow, I NEVER thought that was possible!!!!

    CONGRATS!!!

I thought PCGS ONLY crosses at the SAME grade and the expects the customer to resubmit for a regrade.

Good for you...I wonder how many times that actually happens.

I have been thinking of trying to cross this 1883-S NGC MS-62 Morgan Dollar to PCGS for inclusion in my PCGS Registry Set.

Dennis: Thanks for your post. I agree that this 1883-S is strong for the MS-62 grade, and that it's got a shot at upgrading to MS-63 with PCGS.

It's in one of those old conservatively graded "fat" keyless NGC slabs.

To sum up what I didn't show in the previous reply:

I slabbed a beautiful original 1934-D Washington 25c as the FIRST NGC MS-67 back in 1996 or '97.
Over a seven-year period I tried to cross it over at PCGS four times, all unsuccessfully. It would have been the FIRST PCGS MS-67 34-D if it had crossed. In Spring 2004 I consign the NGC MS-67 coin to
Heritage for inclusion in their 2004 Summer ANA Signature Sale. Interestingly, HRCG is able to cross
this coin into a PCGS MS-67 holder on their FIRST try. Now three 34-D 25c exist in PCGS-67. As of 5/1/06 the pop remains at three.

I've seen all three 34-D's in P67 and (despite the appearance of bias) I genuinely like mine the best in
terms of eye-appeal. A highly respected Washington Quarter series expert has confided the same
    sentiments.

This PCGS MS-67 1934-D 25c brought $17,250 in the auction.

I wasn't the one who crossed it over, Heritage did. But I "won" the money.

    On a smaller scale:

    Back in 1999 I crossed an NGC MS-64 1929-D Buffalo 5c to a PCGS MS-65!
    That was a pleasant surprise.

Thank goodness. At first, your response had me believing Heritage purchased the coin and then crossed it for themselves.

This one was in a NGC MS61 holder. Sent it for cross, it came back DNC. Broke it out, sent it in, it came back MS63. I think there is a bias, and I think this is evidence of it. I'll always break out coins when I send them in.

I've crossed 13 out of 16 NGC silver classic commems. The most valuable was an MS 66 Maryland that was just a few percent shy of being a total monster. I'd say it's worth 2x between bid & ask.

It seems that no matter how carefully I pick NGC coins for cross over, no more than 50% make it per submission. I wouldnt even consider trying crossing NGC commems in MS68, it won't happen.

My best score: Old holder 1795 dollar, totally original unhairlined and fully struck, no adjustment marks, NGC 53, crossed to PCGS 55.
