Post a true MS65RD common date IH Cent

shylockshylock Posts: 4,288 ✭✭✭
I bet there are few out there to post.

In the late 1990's/early 21st Century you could buy these for 200 bucks. Now they go as high as $780.

One of the best values for the grade of the late 1990's/early 21st Century is a solid 65RD common date IH.
These are now hard to find, most have been upgraded to 66RD.

Beware of NGC RD graded IH Cents that still exist in old NGC holders. NGC overgraded this series in a ridiculous manner.
They generally don't look stunning in person.

This are readily available in the 4-500 range on Ebay.

Post one here. EBay 65RD common date Indian Heads are usually dealer cast offs or just plain ugly coins.

Superb luster and 4 full diamonds.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't ALL 65 graded coins have 4 full diamonds? I thought the diamonds were used to judge levels of wear on circulated IHC's?

I think only Goose3's would qualify as a true MS-65 RD from the photographs. Eye catching hits on the cheek and neck and distributed RB toning disqualify a coin from MS-65 RD, IMO. Many 65 NGC RD's and quite a few 65 PCGS RD's that I have seen are off-color.

The same problem exists for PR-65 RD's; way too much over-grading and often too much brown allowed.

Less common dates are often grossly over-graded at the 65 level, again only my opinion.
