Will Pedro Martinez make the Hall of Fame?

I say he's a cinch if he gets 3000 strikeouts. He has the best winning percentage (.706) of any pitcher in history with over 200 wins. If he ends up with over 250 wins, he gets in on the first ballot.

    If he had retired LAST YEAR, he would still be a first ballot HOF'er. Arguably, he is the greatest latin pitcher of all time.

    I'm not saying this because I'm a Petey fan either.

    Cy Young in both leagues, 3000 Ks (by season end), great winning percentage. ERA under 2.75 Measure him up to a Whitey Ford and it is a no brainer. Pedro will be a HOFer and first ballot to boot.
    Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

    Although Martinez has great stats already, it's not all about numbers. Petey was a dominate pitcher for over a decade. Filling the Rocket's shoes very nicely after Clemens left Boston.

    Right off the bat, I can think of several HOF pitchers with abbreviated careers that Martinez compares very nicely too right now.

    And one can also argue that Marichal should be included on this list as well since he was injured and only played a handful of games in his last two years.

    There's no doubt. Petey is IN if he retired today to sit under that Mango tree of his.

    Pedro Martinez is without question a first ballot Hall Of Famer. I can't thank the Red Sox enough for letting him slip away. I HATE Pedro. And that is the finest compliment a fan can give to the opposition. image

    One of 4 of the most dominant pitchers in the past 2 decades(Although all can be considered All-time greats imo) that will all be first ballot HOF'ers.

    Pedro was a better pitcher than Gibson, I'll concede, although when you factor in how many innings they pitched (Pedro's high season for IP would be 10th on Gibson's list), it's not as dramatic a difference as it might appear.

    But, when you factor in the value Gibson added as hitter relative to other pitchers and his fielding, I think a decent case can be made that Gibson was a more valuable member on his teams than Pedro was on his teams. Sort of splitting hairs since they were both phenomenal, but I wanted to be sure Gibson got his due.
    This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.
