Would you pay $5000 for a FE cent in 65?

I mean, they're a pretty design and not many are really really nice.....but.....sheeee.....
Can ANY FE cent (other than the 1856)....really .... provide 5 grand worth of pleasure to look at?

I'd probably look for a 64.

Philistine!

Couldn't afford either at this time so it's a moot point with me.

no

Depends what the 65 looked like.

I saw one recently that I would have paid 50% more than 5k. Remember 66's are 25k.

RBinTex · April 26, 2006 10:12AM

I answered no but if it were an MS65 of one of several of the rarer varieties I'd pay 5k in a heart beat (1858/7 & 1857 FS-004 comes to mind 1st)

The FE is indeed a neat design - St. Gaudens regarded it as his favorite historic U.S. coin design.

WACoinGuy · April 26, 2006 10:18AM

It's not a series I collect, so no (I have a nice sub $800 FE in 63). If I collected it seriously though, why not?

VicPortland · April 26, 2006 10:27AM

It would have to be one beautiful coin...

TorinoCobra71 · April 26, 2006 10:37AM

IF I had $5,000, it would go towards a SILVER or GOLD MS Coin! Semi-Key or KEY date!
