I actually have one of those. I got it where the Hunley is on display & got to view the real one as well.

The seller states that it is a copy in both the title and the body of the auction. The coin appears to have the word "COPY" on the reverse (but it's hard to see from the pics).

Piece of crap, but no foul.

I have one of those. I believe that Bohica gave it to me. I like it alot. And yes, it has "copy" on it. It also includes the inscription that George Edward Dixson placed on it. "Shiloh/April 6, 1862/My life Preserver/G. E. D". It one of the most romantic stories in numismatics.

Agreed. The "gack" was for the piece of crap, as well as for the inaccurate listing which happens to date the coin as 1869, and the date of the Battle of Shiloh as 1962.

I bought one of those too, a very cool piece of history. I also got to see the original. They were only about $10.00, not too much for something with so much history. I don't see a problem with the person's auction. A couple of typos, but life goes on.

The actual coin was an 1860.

Just wondering... If you took a genuine 1860 $20 piece, and bent and engraved it just like the real Hunley, would you have to stamp the word "COPY" on it?

Since no one will be able to own the original, this is about as good as it gets.

I have no problem with the auction; it's a copy of my ultimate fantasy coin.
