pcgs-66 2006 jeff 5c

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8410903220&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

i've got nothing to do with this item, but i was surprised at the 66 grade assigned by pcgs. the wide open obv field is scuffed up as all hell. i thought pcgs was harsh on modern crap. what's the story, anyone else have 2006's graded?

I think the appearance of the fields in that coin are a direct result of the photograph.

I had 4 2006's graded. All MS65 with only 1 FS. Believe me, PCGS is really picky on the FS designation because mine were pretty darn good!

i doubt if the criteria for a fs designation has changed. any nicks crossing the step lines will kill the fs. yet i've seen lots of fs designated coins with gashes thru the steps. did your 65's show much abrasion in the obv. field?

tc - thank for the link. i'm techno-handicapped.

I will try to show pictures after I get home but my biggest concern was with the steps. IMO all 4 were lock FS coins and I was very curious as to why only 1 of the 4 received the designation. As it turns out, although the steps were clear of nicks and gashes, there did aoppear to be a "fading" of the steps going from right to left with the left side the weaker of the two sides. If I had money to burn (which by the PCGS seems to think I do image ) I would send these in for some type of review. But, all I can do now, is tighten up exactly what I am looking for and these are proving difficult to find in 66 or higher grade.

    The FS Nickel

The fields look fairly clear but ole Tom keeps getting in the same ole knife fight.
Image three does have a hit but its not across the steps, only on the base. That one I would concede but the other two are clearly FS with the exception of the fading to the left side. It looks to me that with this new design also comes a new definition of what FS would be.

    Opinions?

What this shows me is that people are too lazy to find and grade their own coins. You can buy this coin for $.05 at any bank. Just look through some rolls and you will find one.

Well DUH! I did pick these from rolls! I was just curious how PCGS would grade them. Especially given the fact that the steps appear to be so prominent.............

06 jefferys are FS if all steps are there, and not just on center steps but side ones also, so you would need all three sets of steps to be 5+

Does it make economic sense for me to go over the rolls I got and pick some to get slabbed, then??
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.
