Have you seen or heard of any fake or counterfeit 1921 St Gaudens gold pieces?
How many do you think are out there in collector hands?
If you buy it raw whats the chance of it to be counterfeit?
How can you spot out a counterfeit st gaudens?

    Yes lots of gold counterfeits...

If your looking to buy, buy a Certified example.

Counterfeits will have a porous look and the legend will look different. Though some can fool even experienced collectors.

Id go with a certified example and bypass all the worry.

And since we both like this coin so much...

There was a very crude counterfeit (not altered) 21 on eBay recently. It was the first fake 21 I've seen, although I imagine there must be some altered dates out there.

A 1921 Saint counterfeit was posted here a week ago... It was pretty crude though, and wouldn't fool anyone that knew what a Saint ought to look like.
