Hard to tell for sure from that image, but it looks like its NT target toned.

If you consider album toning natural then it's NT.

Appears to be NT. Is it really that color, or has the contrast been adjusted to make it appear lighter?

Saw this one on Ebay....looked NT but if it's the coin I am thinking of.....it looked to be overgraded in a third tier holder.......I still like it by the way.

I believe the coin has been dipped and has since retoned in an album. While the coin is would probably be slabbed by any TPG as NT, and some people like this look, I do not and would pass on the coin...Mike

I said NT, but its a bit unusual to see both sides Targeted at about the same level,...usually the side that lays down in the album (normally the rev) has a more solid tone and the Obv gets the target

I think it's NT; looks like classic album toning. If someone were going to doctor an 1885 dime, they'd add an S mint mark. image

As a relative novice, I agree but the retoning may not be album as it is symmetric on obverse and reverse: I am just a bit suspicious for AT. I think the TPGs will have a similar reaction, just MHO, and BB the coin even if it is actually NT.

I think it's AT. It's hard to put a finger on exactly why. Perhaps it's the way the peripheral toning stops so abruptly, in combination with the center of the coin being toned deadish gray. (A fresh coin in an album might get peripheral toning but the center would remain fresh and white.) With this coin, it's like the peripheral toning was purposely laid on top to dress up the corpse. In any event, I've seen lots of coins similar to this over the years, and none of them came out of albums or old-time collections.

My first reaction was AT based on the dark toning band being slightly too regular in shape.

There's no spot to vote "I can't tell from a computer image"! My first impression is the dull color at the edges is a bit dark/dull and I actually have tested some similar coins of low value-- I found that only the center toning was real and washed off with a quick dip. Just hard to tell with that image--
