I'm gonna teach him a lesson!

You've been following a coin that you really like at auction for a while, and finally decided to put in a "secret" max bid.
BAM! "Sorry, but your max bid has been outbid. Please place another bid." Do you sometimes let your emotion b(g)et the better of you, and said to yourself, "I'm gonna teach him a lesson", and place another higher max bid? BAM! It happens again. "I'm gonna teach him again."............and again, and again......
I must admit I have done it quite a few times in the past, but not lately. Thank God.

I didn't do it, goose.
Takes all the emotion out of bidding. And saves paying too much by chasing another bidder.

Absolutely. It's fine to snipe; just make sure that bid is the top price you really are willing to pay for the lot. People who are not disciplined and chase a lot in the heat of an auction are foolish. The best of us (and I am hardly the best) get beat by a more eager buyer some of the time.

It might cost a little to snipe but it sure saves a lot!
<< <i> That's one of the reasons why I like to snipe. I determine ahead of time the maximum amount I will pay for a coin and enter that as a snipe bid. If I win - great. If I lose, then someone wanted to pay more for it than I did.

This is exactly why I snipe as well. I got busted big time a few years ago when I became over zealous and overpaid for a coin just because I was hell-bent on not loosing.
